Project manager - European R&D Projects on Shared and Inclusive Mobility

Mpact is a pioneering organisation in shared and inclusive mobility in Belgium. We develop and manage services such as Tata Bicyclette (children’s bike libraries), Cozywheels (vehicle sharing), Mobitwin (community-based transport), Carpool (carpooling), and many others.

Historically, Mpact has distinguished itself as an incubator of new initiatives in the sharing economy, such as Cambio, Traject, and Olympus. Today, we aim to revive this dynamic and are looking for people ready to bring new ideas and help us imagine the services of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

You will be recruited as a Project Manager to coordinate Mpact’s participation in international, EU-funded research and development projects in the field of shared, inclusive and sustainable mobility.

  • Until the end of 2028: Youth4Mobility project (starting in January 2026) – 30 à 40% ETP
  • Until the end of 2026: DREAMS project (funded by the DUT Partnership, launched in January 2024) – Backup of the project director

You will also develop a sustainable mobility network in French-speaking Belgium, a completely new project !

Under the supervision of the Project Director, you will manage these projects with a high level of autonomy, including :

  • Coordinating and producing project deliverables
  • Participating in and contributing to international project meetings
  • Coordinating with local and international partners
  • Managing technical and financial reporting towards funders

Beyond project execution, the role also includes a strategic and incubator-oriented dimension. You will actively contribute to:

  • Identifying new project ideas aligned with Mpact’s mission
  • Supporting the preparation and writing of European project proposals
  • Exploring new funding opportunities and partnerships
  • Strengthening Mpact’s role as an incubator for innovative shared mobility initiatives

Profile

  • You have solid experience in managing international and European projects, and have already worked on at least one European project throughout its full lifecycle (from proposal or kick-off to reporting and closure).
  • You are comfortable combining operational project management with a more strategic, exploratory role.
  • You easily build relationships with external partners and consortia members. You communicate clearly, inspire trust, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • You are comfortable with mobility requirements: occasional international business trips and travel between the Brussels and Gembloux offices.
  • You take ownership of your work, plan tasks efficiently, and deliver high-quality results. You work autonomously while knowing when to seek input from colleagues or management.
  • You have an affinity with sustainable mobility, the collaborative economy, and social innovation.
  • You are organised, autonomous, and capable of managing several projects in parallel.
  • You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • You have an excellent command of French and English (required); knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
